Piano, cello, chamber music

Susan Barrett portrait Susan Barrett began her piano studies at age 5, and at age 11 added cello, studying with Eugene Eicher, a student of Piatigorsky. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in piano performance (minoring in cello performance), studying with Lois McLeod, George Robert, and Joanna de Keyser. There she indulged her love of chamber music, accompanying and performing often with fellow students. Later, she pursued graduate studies in Piano Accompanying at Arizona State University, studying with Ms. McLeod and Robert Hamilton. She is also a registered Suzuki instructor in cello. She has been a member of several professional orchestras, including the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra and the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra, and has been a fequent chamber musician and piano accompanist, specializing in string and vocal literature. In Sante Fe, Susan had a large private studio teaching piano and cello, and was the conductor of String Orchestras I and II with the Santa Fe Youth Symphony. She joined the Renaissance Music Academy in 2005. She is also a faculty member with Virginia Tech's Fine Arts Initiative, teaching piano and cello.
